Local PFLAG Scholarship Programs

PFLAG Phoenix awards three scholarships each spring. Known as the Boots & Ray Reed Scholarship (named for PFLAG Phoenix chapter founders Boots and Ray Reed), self-identified gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender (GLBT) youth, or a straight ally youth (i.e., a heterosexual youth who demonstrates outstanding direct support to GLBT youth and/or the GLBT community) and at least 16 years old as of May 1st are eligible. Applicants must reside in Arizona at the time of scholarship application and must plan to attend (or currently attend) a post-secondary educational institution. A new scholarship, known as the Dowers Family Scholarship has recently been added.

We, the parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively.
