“What does an Extension Office do?” That’s one of the main questions we get, and although the answer is simple to us it sometimes leaves the public scratching their heads.

To put is as simply as possible: the Routt County Extension Office and Colorado State University are dedicated to providing a better quality of life to the citizens of Routt County. We accomplish this by providing a link between the University, and the research and resources it provides, to the public.

Routt County represents a diverse population in a region that supports three main industries: ranching, mining, and recreation. While we value our traditions and history we realize the importance of having and using the most up-to-date information to thrive in today’s fast changing world. We accomplish this by providing in-office and on-site visits, workshops, trainings, conferences, presentation material and more.

Our three Extension Agents can lend their expertise to answer your questions. As part of a nation-wide system that uses the latest research we can help residents learn more about gardening, healthy eating, personal finances, food safety, family relationships, youth development, managing our natural resources, and much more.
