Rancho Vista Equine Therapy Center

In the spring of 2006, our friend, the Mayor of Loreto, Rudolfo Davis Osuna, introduced us to Rancho Visita de la Presentación. He had a dream that this historic site would be restored, that the people residing in the Sierra de la Giganta mountains would find employment restoring these historical ruins and that this special place would have its heart opened to the world. His dream immediately became our dream as well.

On the following pages you will discover the history and features of this amazing property in the mountains beyond Loreto and San Javier. We have many ideas for the future that incorporate this dream. We will introduce you to some of these ideas and will update this site as the ideas become plans.

A Visita is a traditional place of rest — a place where those who traveled in much earlier times, between the many Mission establishments on Baja would refresh themselves and their animals during their long journeys.

While Baja boasts numerous Jesuit settlements (missions and visitas), there are only two Franciscan sites; a mission and one Franciscan Visita on Baja. Established in 1769, Rancho Visita de la Presentación is located 45km. south west of the small, fishing village of Loreto.
