Image of Partners Mentoring Association

Partners philosophy is that a one-to-one relationship with a caring adult can help youth learn the skills and provide the emotional support needed to become productive adults and good citizens. Mentorship is a timeless strategy for helping youth mature into healthy adults. In fact, former President Bush’s Points of Light Foundation and the Carnegie Council on Adolescent Development have identified mentorship as an effective strategy for helping at-risk youth.

The first Partners program was established in 1968 in Denver. Partners’ founders envisioned that youth could be helped through love and guidance from a caring adult in an ongoing friendship. Since 1968, Partners programs around the state have served over 30,000 youth.

The Huerfano / Las Animas Partners program was the twelfth affiliate of the Partners Mentoring Association, having attained full affiliate status with the Association in August of 2000. Since its’ beginning, the bi-county program has served over fifty at-risk youth ages 6-17.
