The mission of Mile High Down Syndrome Association is to assure inclusion and enhance independence of people with Down syndrome. We will achieve this by providing education, resources and support in partnership with individuals, families, professionals, and the community.
A society where all members are valued for their uniqueness, respected for their contribution and assured the opportunity and choice to create their own path to fulfillment and success.
Mile High Down Syndrome Association, Inc. (MHDSA) is a non-profit organization which serves families of children and adults with Down syndrome, and interested professionals in the Mountain States region.
MHDSA was formed in 1981 by parents who felt a need to associate more closely with other parents of children with Down syndrome. Support, information, and referral services are provided to over 3,000 callers each year.
MHDSA is affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Congress and the National Down Syndrome Society.
MHDSA has been awarded the “Best In America” Seal of Approval as one of the top charities in the country, and one that meets the high standards of Independent Charities of American (ICA) and Local Independent Charities of America (LICA). The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America, and have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.
The 2009 Step Up for Down Syndrome walk was a huge success with your support! We had hundreds of more walkers than we did last year and raised thousands of dollars that will go to support the fine work of MHDSA.
