The Legal Center is an independent public interest non-profit specializing in civil rights and discrimination. Protect human rights, civil and legal rights of people with mental and physical disabilities, people with HIV, and older people throughout Colorado.

The main objective of the Legal Center is to open the legal system which could not otherwise express their needs because of the complexity of the bureaucracy of the service, disability or because they are unable to act on their own. The Law Center works for systemic change in its objective to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and older people:

  • They work with teachers, specialists in vocational rehabilitation, mental health and developmental disabilities providers, the nursing home staff, specialists in vocational rehabilitation, housing providers and others to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
  • They provide direct legal representation informally and in court and administrative hearings.
  • Protect rights in legislation and regulations.

The Legal Center has played a key role in the progression of disability law in Colorado and nationally. They are proud ofof their success in breaking new ground . However, generally resolve their clients' objectives without litigation. Some of the most successful legal advances have come through empowering people to defend themselves.
