The Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD), part of the Dept. of Regulatory Agencies, administers and enforces Colorado civil rights laws in employment, housing and public accommodations. The chief enforcement activity is to investigate individual charges of discrimination. CCRD has jurisdiction over discrimination based on race, creed, color, sex, national origin, ancestry, marital status, age (employment only), disability (mental and/or physical), or familial status (housing only). In addition to enforcement, CCRD is authorized to study the extent and characteristics of discrimination in Colorado and to cooperate with other groups to eliminate same. CCRD investigates complaints, mediates settlements, sets cases for administrative hearing, conducts surveys and public hearings, holds workshops and conferences, and provides information, training, and consultation to individuals, employers, and ortganizations.

As a division of the Department of Regulatory Agencies, the Civil Rights Division embraces the Department's mission of consumer protection and works to protect individuals from discrimination in employment, housing and at places of public accommodation through enforcement and outreach consistent with the Colorado Civil Rights laws.
